Casi Casi Review

I watched the foreign film Casi Casi. This film had subtitles so you could understand what the actors were saying. This film took place in a Puerto Rico high school. The actors in this movie were not very good. They made things very over dramatic but I think that's what the point was. The main plot of the movie was interesting and it had a lot of suspenseful moments. I think that overall it was a pretty good movie for being in Spanish. I think that they could have done a better job making it more realistic. I wouldn't recommend this movie because I thought it was pretty childish. It was also a very predictable movie. The main point of this movie was to show students from here about a scenario in a different country.

Webcast 2

I thought this webcast was not as well done as the previous webcast. This webcast was less organized than the last one because we tried to use the microphones and they did not work. We also were not as prepared for the shots. We were more focused on the microphones than we were on the actual shots. The anchors did a better job this time making eye contact but we still didn't know all of the words that were written on the announcements. Matt did a great job with the weather and he is getting more confident with what the weather showed. He does a really good job with making the weather funny but still getting the point across. The floor director didn't get the floor very organized which caused us to start later and the actual director didn't help with any mic checks. Overall I think we could do a lot better job executing what we tried to do but we didn't.

Django Unchained

Django Unchained was a great movie. I thought that Jamie Fox played his role perfectly. In every scene that Jamie Fox was in he made it either suspenseful or extremely funny. In the scene with the KKK the director made a very negative and serious topic a hilarious and comical shot. The director also made the awkwardness of the white vs black viewer a lot easier because he made fun of both races. For the most part this was a comedy but there were some serious scenes that were perfectly done. In the final scene where they were all in the house and there was a gun fight the Director made it extremely suspenseful. Leonardo DiCaprio played the role of a racist white man very well. There were a lot of topics in this movie that could have been very offensive and beyond rude but it was portrayed in a way that it was funny. Without portraying the themes in this movie in a funny way i don't think that this movie would have been allowed to be produced. There were many insults to the black race and a lot of talk about slavery. Quenten Tarantino is known for pushing the limits of what is allowed and what isn't and he definitely pushed the limits in this movie. He pushed the limits but in a way that made a terrible time for a lot of people a great movie. I liked this movie because of how funny that it was and how it did still have some historical accuracy in it. This movie was rated appropriately because there was a lot of bad language and scenes that were inappropriate. Some movies are rated because of the topic that they are about but this movie was rated because of the topic and because of the language.

Newscast Review

I thought that my video directing job went pretty well. I needed to work on flipping from normal cameras to the green screen. I need to be quicker with making the green screen be clear. I need to read through the script and know what camera is coming next a little quicker. I think that the anchors need to make more eye contact with the camera and know they'r lines a little better. The people working the cameras did well but they need to prep their shots before we start shooting.  The weatherman did a very good job describing the weather with feeling and emotion. Overall I think we did a pretty good job but there's a lot of room for improvement.
